In accordance with Employee Handbook, Page 15-16:
“Full-time employees are eligible for company holidays after the Introductory Period. These company holidays are recognized as equivalent to 8 hours for non-exempt employees and they will be compensated at straight time for eight (8) hours at their base rate. These hours shall not be included in the calculation of overtime compensation for the pay period of the holiday.
As a norm, AVEX does not schedule routine operations on these holidays unless there are workload exigencies or customer requests for work to be performed on the holiday. In such situations, employees scheduled to work on the holiday will be paid for their worked hours in addition to the holiday compensation pay. Exempt employees required to work on a holiday may request a day off in lieu.
It is critical for employees to recognize that company holidays are provided as a benefit and not as a right. AVEX takes a strict stance against employees taking advantage of company holidays by taking unapproved or short notice time off on their scheduled workdays before and/or after a holiday as it could negatively impact our operations. AVEX reserves the right not to compensate the employees’ holiday pay in such situations.”
